I was recently introduced to first collection from Irish Brand Liwu Jewellery; a delicate jewellery collection featuring ancient Chinese calligraphy. If you’re looking for a meaningful Christmas gift ‘For Her’ I’d encourage you to keep reading as I was blown away by the attention to detail and beauty of the necklaces, earrings and bracelets featured in the collection. Just ‘Click to View Post’ under the image to continue reading and to see more images of the ‘Three Lucky Stars’ necklace…
About the Brand
Liwu Jewellery was inspired by the designer, Áine Breen’s two year stint in Beijing, China where she was studying Chinese Calligraphy at the time. Áine initially drew inspiration from the Chinese character for love which means “Life to the heart, Grace to the body”. When I was first contacted in relation to featuring this Irish jewellery brand on the Bec Boop blog and after taking a look at the online shop I knew this was a collection I was going to love. I actually studied Art for my Leaving Certificate (what feels like ages ago!) and calligraphy was my specialised craft at the time so this was something which attracted me to the jewellery straight away. There’s something special about wearing a piece of jewellery that has a personal meaning to you. When explaining how the brand started off Áine explains “I always wore a necklace with the word love in English so I really wanted a necklace using the Chinese character as it would allow me to express myself in a more a subtle and meaningful manner. Liwu Jewellery just took off from there.”
The Necklace Featured & Favourites
Liwu Jewellery were kind enough to send me on the ‘Three Lucky Stars‘ necklace which you can see in more detail in the photos above. Each of the discs features it’s own individual character, meaning – luck, prosperity and longetivity. I think this is such a beautiful piece of jewellery and the hanging detail is perfect for layering over AW outfits. It is a really delicate and feminine statement piece . This necklace is sterling silver and €99 to purchase. My other favourites from the collection are the United Eternity bracelets which I think would make excellent friendship or sister gifts this Christmas and also the Be Happy necklace. The prices in the collection range from €59-€139 and include sterling silver and gold plated pieces. A meaning explanation memo comes with each individual jewellery piece and this makes a lovely memento to have and reflect on while wearing your jewellery.
