Well, that week went quickly. These few weeks are my busiest weeks of the year at work and I was absolutely exhausted this weekend. I felt like the whole of 2014 had caught up on me. I just about had time to write this blog post so I could share my Dr. Martens collection video and photos with you. Just “Click to View Post” under the video to continue reading and learn about my Dr. Martens styling tips…
Dr. Martens boots were a new fashion love for me in 2014 and I’ve quickly built up my collection since receiving my first pair which were the Vintage Cherry Red 1460 boots. I styled these boots three different ways as part of the #WalkYourStyle competition last year and loved them so much I’ve worn them quite a lot since the (Competition entry 1, entry 2 & entry 3). I went on to win the competition which meant I got a trip to London to visit the Dr. Martens factory. That was literally so amazing and I was delighted to film it for my #Vlogmas videos over on the Bec Boop YouTube channel. While I was there I picked up the black and the blue patent docs which you can see above. I love the shiny effect on these boots and had my eye on the royal blue ones for quite a while. The black boots are quite versatile so they will go with a lot of outfits I have planned. After that trip I added one more pair of boots to my collection. These were another pair I had spotted and had my eye on – the dark brown Serena boots. I love that these boots have a fur lining interior and they are probably the most comfortable of the four styles to wear.
My top tips for styling Dr. Martens boots are as follows:
1. Incorporate them in to your own style – there are so many varieties and styles of boots available that you are sure to find a pair that suit your personal style and wardrobe. Your Dr. Martens outfit theme doesn’t have to be grunge, lately Dr. Martens have become so mainstream and the styles are updated frequently with the changing fashion trends.
2. Break them in! I can’t stress this enough, particularaly with the leather/patent styles. Either break them in or wear super thick socks!
3. If you are wearing a statement pair of Dr. Martens boots such as these floral boots, don’t forget to keep the rest of your outfit simple. You don’t want to draw the focus away from your pretty boots.
4. I like to keep the rest of my look quite feminine and girly when wearing my docs. This is because I feel that in general most ‘boots’ can have quite a manly/masculine feel to them so it’s nice to make the overall outfit still have a cute look to it. I enjoy wearing them with skirts or dresses too.
Dr. Martens are simply a fashion statement of their own and adding them to any outfit, completely changes the overall look which is something I enjoy when planning my outfits.
I’d love to hear from you in the comments below. Do you own any Dr. Martens or have any tips for wearing them?

I love your styling tips!
In my country (The Netherlands), I struggle to find all the models you have, especially the blue ones! I still managed to score 2 new pairs of boots on the site… 🙂
Thanks for reading this Chantal and I'm glad you enjoyed these tips 🙂

Thanks!
Reading your blog in 2018! I’ve just started assembling my own Dr. Marten’s collection (started out with a pair of black 1490s and shiraz buttero pascals) and the search brought me here. I wonder if your collection has grown since 2015.
