In Winter there is no such thing as having too many coats! I recently added a checked coat to my Winter wardrobe and have no regrets! Autumn saw the craze of the checked blazer and although I didn’t manage to get my hands on one at that stage I’ve definitely joined the checked coat bandwagon. In today’s blog post I’m sharing how I’ve styled the checked coat for a casual Winter outfit and why you need a checked coat this Winter! I’ve also hunted the online fashion world for a selection of my favourite checked coats for you to shop from at the end of this post.
Why the Checked Coat?
I so badly wanted a checked blazer just a few months ago but alas it was out of my size in almost every online retailer I tried. I’m over that now though. It’s all about the checked coat as we head into the colder months and that checked blazer is no longer practical! One of my favourite things about the checked coat is how versatile it is; I feel this coat is perfect for wearing on the way to work or client meetings and yet it can also be dressed down with jeans and ankle boots for a more weekend-y look.
How I Styled the Checked Coat
Here I wore my checked coat for a Winter weekend in one of London’s Royal Parks. It wasn’t quite freezing yet, luckily there was still some beautiful fall foliage around to play with and of course act as my outfit shot props. I wore my checked coat over a simple black bodysuit and high waisted denims from River Island. I added my favourite fall ankle boots and a simple satchel blag so that I more or less blended into the park background.
