Any regular Bec Boop reader will know how much I love going to the races. The Galway Races are literally my favourite time of year but I have to admit, I’ve only ever been to a Summer Race meet. So obviously I was thrilled to be invited along to the Newbury Racecourse for their Winter Racing event on Hennessy Gold Cup day at the BET365 Festival. I was instantly posed with the challenge – what does one wear to the races in November? Thankfully I had Galway milliner Suzie Mahoney on hand to deck me out in the perfect Boop hat! I absolutely loved this and focused my whole outfit around the wine felt trilby. It was so easy to style and to be honest it’s the kind of hat I would love to wear on a regular basis. It could be dressed up or dressed down super easily I’m sure.
I kept my outfit pretty simple – opting for a black kimono style dress from Primark and some statement jewellery. I was also bracing myself for a brisk breeze at the racetrack so I made sure to wrap up. My dad came to visit that weekend and being the racing fans that we are, we were both looking forward to our first trip to the Newbury Racecourse. It is located quite a bit outside London, but thankfully we had some bubbly on the bus to prepare us for the day ahead.
