5 Things to Do in Bangalore, India

Earlier this Summer I had an opportunity to visit India for the first time. I travelled alone and I can honestly say it was the most amazing and breath-taking experience. In today’s blog post I’ve shared a photo diary of my time there and also five things to do in Bangalore (Bengaluru), India which is the city I visited. I was there on business so my sight-seeing was restricted to the weekend but I think I crammed in as much as possible 🙂

1. Lalbagh Botanical Garden

First stop, the botanical gardens – Lal Bagh. The gardens are amazing! The easiest way to see the Lalbagh if you are limited for time is to hop on one of the little buses that takes tourists around the park. This stops at all the main attractions in the garden and gives you time to see and take photographs at each one before hopping aboard again. There’s also a pretty amazing viewpoint where you can see Bangalore City from.

2. Bangalore Palace

While in Bangalore of course I had to visit the Palace. I did the audio tour of the palace which lasted about one hour and was super interesting. I was lucky enough to have 3g connection in there so managed to do show around the Palace on Periscope too.

3. Shiv Temple

Home to the most powerful Shiv Statue in the world this temple was so amazing. You enter the temple barefoot where you are welcomed to partake in the many rituals.

4. Nandi Hills

Nandi Hills was by far my favourite attraction in Bangalore. An ancient hill fortress and sunrise station situated on the top of the ‘bull-shaped’ outside of Bangalore. I left my hotel at 4am to arrive in time for sunrise and was blown away by the numbers of vehicles travelling in the same direction to see the stunning sight at that early hour. The view was literally out of this world and there are many attractions on the hills to see including Tippu Sultans Summer House, baths, horticulture and temples. It was a very windy morning up there – hence the big hair!

5. Sri Big Bull Temple

Finally the last stop on my trip was to the Sri Big Bull Temple in Bangalore which is known to be the biggest Nandi Temple in the world.
