SPRING COATS & JACKETS ESSENTIALS | FASHION

spring coats wishlist fashion essentials
Spring is for light layering. It is not quite warm enough to head out with short sleeves quite yet so I have pulled together some coats & jackets essentials for your Spring wardrobe. Last year I published a Coats & Blazers to get you through Spring/Summer video and blog post. Let’s think of today’s post as an updated and more ‘Spring’ focused edit.

1. Denim Jacket

A denim jacket is definitely a Spring staple for me, last year I featured my American Eagle Outfitters ripped denim one quite a lot in outfit posts, it was a staple piece in my wardrobe. While browsing the M and M direct Spring collection I spotted this simple denim jacket which is actually a Levi’s original and I loved the vintage vibe. A denim jacket screams effortless style, I would add mine to any outfit upon racing out the front door when it was not warm enough to go without a jacket.

2. Duster Coat

Although as a petite person sometimes a duster coat can prove quite the challenge, I like to work them into my Spring wardrobe nonetheless. Duster coats come in many varieties, for Spring I enjoy wearing the light, airy type. I like this River Island brown duster coat as it has a belt and large pocket detail.

3. Sleeveless Blazer

Ah, it’s no secret the sleeveless blazer will always hold a special place in my Spring wardrobe. I love layering my casual, style by combining a short-sleeved top with a sleeveless blazer. See this blog post for tips on how to style sleeveless blazers. A simple white sleeveless jacket adds a crisp, tailored finish to any look.

4. Bomber Jackets

2016 has been the year of the bomber jacket so far. They have been popping up on all the major online retailers in the last few months. I featured a silver bomber jacket in one of my London Fashion Week AW16 outfits. More recently I have become a fan of the quilted bomber jacket, teamed with simple denim and converse shoes they can really add a fun element to your outfit.

5. the Rain-Mac

Alas, living in the UK or Ireland means we have to be practical sometimes when it comes to our outfits. A mac is pretty much the most essential of my Spring coat & jackets essentials to be honest! I love this one, again from M and M Direct, as it shows that a rain-mac does not have to be boring! I love the floral design and this would make a great addition to your festival wardrobe if you are already in festival-fashion mode.

6. Suede or Suedette

As I mentioned in my Spring style outfit post recently, suede is definitely one of this season’s biggest fashion trends. When I think suede, again I instantly think of festival style but the online retails have lots of different variants of suede coats and jackets for you to choose from. I liked this green suedette duster coat from Boohoo as I like to try and add a pop of colour to my wardrobe this time of year.
