Black has always been my favourite colour, from as far back as I can remember (that includes the angsty teen phase of wanting to have my bedroom painted black). That may surprise you as I’m still the biggest girly girl! I know it’s Spring and all but that doesn’t mean I’m going to stop wearing my favourite colour. In today’s outfit I have styled a casual Spring look wearing only black with a dash of grey.

A floppy hat is a Spring essential and I’m one of those girls who just lives in hats. If I could wear a hat to work I probably would, actually come to think of it I have in the past. Hats really are such a simple way to make a fashion statement and express your style. I love this floppy grey and black one, it’s great for the Spring/Summer season but also for Autumn/Winter as you can see in this outfit post when I styled it for an October casual look. As the rest of the outfit is black I wanted to add a bit of sparkle which was achieved through this bejewelled blouse top and also by layering the diamante belt over the leather joggers. I also mixed things up a bit by clashing the street style feel of the leather joggers with the more structured look of the sleeveless blazer. I think it worked. A casual pair of creepers complete the look. I’d never have put myself down as a creepers fan but I surprisingly love this pair which I picked up in Primark months ago. I may see myself getting another pair of Creepers in the future.
You can see that even thought the outfit is quite dark there’s still a warm feel to it all. That is mainly down to the sleeveless blazer and cropped length of the joggers. I know we all love to add a pop of colour in our outfits but sometimes it’s fun to just stick to the colours you like and see how you can work them into your style and the changing seasons. I’m sure you have noticed that I tend to wear both black and blue more frequently than other colours, I genuinely feel that these colours represent a certain layer of my personal style.
How do you wear black during the Spring/Summer months?
