Hook Crocket is another business I was introduced to through the #Irishbizparty chat on Twitter. I am a big fan of unique one-off jewellery pieces so I was looking forward to hearing more about the brand. Niamh Colfer, the lady behind the crochet-ing kindly sent me this unique crocheted ring which I love. I’ve also shown my new gel nails from Prestige Nail Salon in Galway. I’ve become slightly addicted to pointy gel nails over the last few months and have mastered the art of using the laptop and phone with them also so there’s no stopping me 🙂
Niamh is a crochet crafter and designer based on the Hook Peninsula in Co. Wexford and is a member of the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland. Niamh’s passion for crochet design started from a very young age and she now crochets freestyle creating her own patterns. Niamh finds inspiration from antique books and antique crochet which was left to her by her grandmother, Eileen O’Leary, a noted needle-worker. I was amazed to hear that Niamh crocheted all of the accessories for her bridal party when she got married in 2012 along with the table centre-pieces. I’d love to know if any brides-to-be have considered crochet design when planning their weddings?
Niamh can be contacted by email at hookcrochet@gmail.com if you would like to discuss her craft further or check out her website for a full look at the range. I personally love the fascinators which would be great for weddings or the racing fashion season. I really like the statement jewellery pieces which stand out and are so different to anything I have seen before.
Have you worn crochet design before?
