Min Wu’s SS16 Live Presentation & Digital Screening was the highlight of my first day at London Fashion Week. There’s no question about it. This is the show I walked away from in absolute amazement and awe. LFW SS16 was Min Wu‘s official London Fashion Week debut and she did it with a bang – presenting her SS16 collection alongside a beautiful fashion film ‘Adjusting/Healing’ in an underground dimly lit setting.
As we entered the underground venue at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London I don’t think anyone knew what to expect. Plastic fluorescent rods hung from the ceiling before the fashion film began in front of us. Soon after the models appeared along the left-hand side of the room with a simple light shining on each model from above and scientific props drawing on the futuristic genre of the movie. A theme emerged; fashion film – we look to the front of the room, models – we look to the left.
Of this collection Min Wu says that she drew inspiration from the intricacy of the human body focusing on the fragility and strength in the structure of the muscles and their ability to adjust and stretch in such a multifaceted manner. I would describe this collection as feminine and fun. It’s a style I absolutely adore and I fell in love with each of the pieces.
The contrasting fabrics – denim and colourful stretch fabrics lend to the versatility of Min Wu’s SS16 collection. I loved the beauty look for the show also – pink eyelashes and a nude lipgloss just perfected the look. I feel so lucky to have been witness to such a fashion spectacle, this will remain in my mind as one of my favourite memories from my first London Fashion Week.
