In today’s skincare post I thought I’d do something a little different and involve my mam (aka mum if you’re in the UK and mom if you’re in the US). I finally got my hands on the much coveted cult skincare product – the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanse & Polish when John Lewis kindly sent over two of the Limited Edition Beauty Trio sets. This was released to celebrate the Liz Earle 20th anniversary. I tried one of the sets and gave mam the other so that we could both share our thoughts in a First impression style post here with you.
The Product
The Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Trio* comes in a beautifully presented tin with three newly released limited edition cleansers. If like me, you have not used this product before I thought I’d set out a couple of points on how it works.
- Cleanser you apply directly to wet skin on your face and eyes
- Comes with 2 muslin cloths which you dampen and then use to rub the cleanser gently off
- 2 phase action – cleansing your skin and then polishing to reveal soft, radiant skin
The three new fragrances which come in the set are a fragrant twist on the popular award-winning formula:
- Rose & Lavender
- Grapefruit & Pachouli
- Orange Flower & Chamomile
My Thoughts
Well it goes without saying – I was beyond excited to try this product out. I’ve seen it popping up all over Beauty Blogs and YouTube with everyone raving about how fantastic is so I was thrilled to try out these new variants of the hot cloth cleanser.
No surprise – I loved it. Using the Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser became one of the things I most looked forward to doing after arriving home from a long day at the office. It is such a dream to use and removes every last bit of makeup so gently, leaving your skin feeling super soft. I quite like the rose and lavender variant, this one has a relaxing almost ‘spa break’ like scent.
It’s quite clear what all the fuss is about and I have no doubt that the Hot Cloth Cleanser has just found a permanent place in my evening skincare routine.
Mam’s Thoughts
When Bec Boop asked me to share my opinions on Liz Earle I was so excited. I remember my own Mother using Liz Earle products. So I am not surprised Liz Earle has stood the test of time, celebrating 20 years. I tried all 3 scents. and I LOVE them. I am road testing the Liz Earle Naturally Active Cleanse and Polish ‘Hot Cloth Cleanser’.
It comes in 3 lovely scents. Rose and Lavender, Grapefruit and Patchouli and Orange flower and chamomile. My favourite is the Orange Flower and Chamomile which is surprising because rose and lavender are two of my favourite scents. I followed the directions – Using a couple of pumps onto dry skin, massaging it with the fingers into my face, neck and decolletage. The cleanser went on smoothly and had a nice smooth texture. There was no sticky residue at all. Using one of the two supplied special muslin cloths you soak it in warm water and rinse off, removing all the grime of the day. I was a little surprised when I opened the muslin cloth first. It felt quite rough. But as soon as I soaked it in warm water that roughness was gone, replaced by a cosy softness. So I liked to open out the warm Muslin cloth and just lay it over the face for a couple of minutes, before I rinsed the product off. This really released the lotion. and the scents were heavenly. I loved how, after the home treatment my skin positively felt softer. I don’t think I used a skin polisher before, but I enjoyed the experience.
Would I be using them again, absolutely YES. I might even be tempted to try some other products in the Liz Earle range.
